Eclipse Scores

$15.00

Eclipse Scores is a series of experimental instructions for inhabiting the space of a temporal, rare celestial event and our daily planetary existence. The duration of a total solar eclipse is an ideal container from which to practice being present. Inspired by Buddhist training and Yoko Ono’s Grapefruit, the scores included here are a practice for experiencing totality with a complete, embodied attention. Each score is timed to the length of totality wherever the contributor might have witnessed it, or to 4 minutes and 21 seconds, the length of time the moon completely blocked the sun in Terrell, Texas on April 8, 2024.

Half letter booklet, 56 pages, Riso printed, stapled, July 2024.

Project by Alex Arzt with scores by Annie Albagli, Kristin Arzt, Eleanor Duffin, Lauren Kenward, Sarah Klein, Kelley O’Leary, Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs, Amy Rathbone, Katherine Rutter, Matthew Williams, Alice Wu, Elena Yu
